- Water ice and custard lovers need to download Rita’s app by March 20 to get their free frozen treats, which they can redeem next week.
- “To minimize crowds and improve the overall guest experience, guests will need to download the new Rita mobile app to receive a free ice cube deal on the first day of spring,” said Linda Chadwick, CEO of Rita’s Italian Frozen Custard.
The delicious treats from the first day of Rita’s Italian Ice Spring Freebies are back in 2022 with a brand new twist that will extend the free water ice throughout the week.
“Rita’s Italian Ice and Frozen Custard will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Spring Day 1 sale on Sunday, March 20, 2022, with their famous Free Italian Ice Giveaway,” Water Ice said in a press release. “
On the first day of spring, at the Rita branch in the Delaware Valley, you won’t have to wait in long lines to get a free glass of ice water. Instead, you’ll need to download Rita’s app by Sunday, March 20 to receive a coupon for a free frozen treat, valid until Sunday, March 27.
“To minimize crowds and improve the overall guest experience, guests will need to download the new Rita mobile app to receive a free ice cube deal on the first day of spring,” said Linda Chadwick, CEO of Rita’s Italian Frozen Custard. “They’ll have a week to redeem it, so they can access it at their convenience.”
Click here to download Rita’s app on Google Play and the App Store.
Anyone who downloads the app will be rewarded with free ice cubes. Be sure to pull out the coupons before you line up, Rita says. Also, it is only valid for one free visit.
“You’ll have a full week to use your rewards and get your free ice,” Rita says on her website. “Parents can use their rewards to redeem free ice for their kids.”
Rita expects to collect about 1 million free glasses of ice water at nearly 600 locations across multiple states, the company said.
The week of the water ice freebie was a far cry from the first day of the past two years when Tower canceled its spring freebie due to concerns over COVID-19.
Chadwick said: “While the pandemic has caused Rita to cancel the first day of spring for the past two years, we are excited to celebrate this year by advancing our flagship heritage in a new way. ”
One thing is familiar—the water ice first released in May 1984 by Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo.
“While we’re celebrating spring in a different way this year, guests will still enjoy the same cool, smooth, enjoyable treat that Rita offers,” Chadwick said.
