Through research, we conducted a demonstration experiment using UWB technology on the service from July 2021 to October 2021, and confirmed its effect.

In recent years, with the growing problem of long working hours, work management of workers has become an issue on the manufacturing site. In manufacturing sites, in order to reduce working hours, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of on-site work, and at the same time, it is also necessary to efficiently educate workers who are not used to on-site work.
Toppan Printing uses the Internet of Things to provide a job management service “ID-Watchy®” that uses Bluetooth technology to combine location information and webcam images. From the point of view of safety and security on the production site, we have multiple adoption records as a system to easily grasp and manage the position information and work status of each worker, and we have improved the optimal distribution and productivity of personnel on the production site. In the case of the current “ID-Watchy®”, the maximum radio wave measurement error of Bluetooth is about 1-2 m, so it is not suitable when high-precision measurement on the centimeter level is required. The use of UWB technology this time can achieve accurate measurement of radio wave measurement errors of about 10-20cm. Workplaces can be measured in greater detail and jobs can be simplified, leveled and optimally placed.
Demonstration Experiment Outline
In this development and demonstration experiment of the project research “Artificial Intelligence Future Agriculture Creation Project” commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the project name is “Development and utilization of artificial intelligence for farming and labor management optimization technology”, to master labor workers in detail We use “ID- Watchy®” to solve this problem. In 2018, we also used the “ID-Watchy®” with Bluetooth technology and conducted a test demonstration at Kazui’s plant factory in Fukui. However, Bluetooth requires a large number of sensors to grasp the dynamics of workers as they move around the factory, and the cost of introduction has been an issue.
Therefore, this time, by grasping the dynamics by positioning using UWB, a system that can significantly reduce the introduction cost becomes possible. In this year’s demonstration, we confirmed the effectiveness of the system by actually managing work in Kazuo Fukui using a prototype system of the UWB version of “ID-Watchy®”.
